Viewing a web-sized image doesn’t show you all of the details. The incredible detail able to be captured in a snowflake deserves to be seen up close! The image below can be zoomed in and panned around, using the same technology as Google Maps.
You may notice a number of extra snowflakes “stuck” to the large one, adding extra levels of depth. You’ll also quickly notice colour, often caused by optical interference. This colour is especially noticeable in the lower right corner, displaying a pattern that can commonly be seen in liquid soap films.
